Biography

James "Jim" Ivler is an NFL Players Association (NFLPA) Certified Contract Advisor and senior sports agent with SPORTSTARS, one of the longest-established football representation agencies in the United States. He joined the firm in 1997 after practicing law and has since built a distinguished career representing NFL players through contract negotiations, draft preparation, free agency, endorsement opportunities, and long-term career planning. Over more than two decades with SPORTSTARS, he has become one of the agency's most experienced negotiators and has represented numerous professional football players throughout their careers. Ivler earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Penn State University in 1990 before completing his Juris Doctor at Widener University School of Law in 1993. Following law school, he spent four years practicing at the New Jersey law firm of Spadoro & Hilson, where he developed a strong legal foundation in negotiation and advocacy before transitioning into sports representation. His legal background has played an important role in his approach to structuring player contracts and advising athletes on complex business matters. Throughout his career at SPORTSTARS, Ivler has represented a number of accomplished NFL players, including former Pro Bowl linebacker Tamba Hali, veteran kicker Robbie Gould, and tight end Brenton Strange. He has earned a reputation for building long-term relationships with clients and their families while providing comprehensive representation that extends beyond contract negotiations to include marketing, career counseling, and post-playing career planning. SPORTSTARS has consistently ranked among the NFL's leading agencies by draft representation, and Ivler has been a key contributor to the firm's sustained success over multiple decades.
