Biography

James A. Sims Jr. is an NFLPA-certified contract advisor, attorney, and founder of Sims Sports Management, a boutique sports representation firm that has represented professional football players since 1988. Certified by the NFL Players Association since 1988, Sims has more than three decades of experience negotiating NFL contracts and advising athletes on career, legal, and business matters. He earned his bachelor's degree from Gettysburg College and his Juris Doctor from Southwestern Law School. Throughout his career, Sims has represented numerous NFL players, including Pro Bowlers and high-profile draft selections such as Jamal Anderson, Takeo Spikes, Deltha O’Neal, Andre Rison, Eugene Wilson, and La’Roi Glover. He gained recognition for negotiating several landmark NFL contracts during the early salary-cap era, including record-setting deals that helped establish new benchmarks for player compensation. His agency has built a reputation for securing significant contracts for both high draft picks and undrafted free agents. In addition to athlete representation, Sims is an experienced attorney and sports law educator. He has taught Sports Law as an adjunct professor, served as an advisor to the NFLPA Agent Advisory Committee, and represented athletes in employment, benefits, and legal matters throughout their careers. Through Sims Sports Management, he continues to provide services including contract negotiations, endorsements, legal counsel, career planning, and post-career advisory support for professional athletes.
