A native of Trumbull, Connecticut, Pace attended the University of Rhode Island, where he played football from 1985 to 1988. He graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing, concentrating on management and advertising. Before entering the sports representation industry, he built an extensive career in marketing, negotiating business agreements with executives from numerous Fortune 500 companies.
