Kanani Datan is an NFL Players Association (NFLPA) Certified Contract Advisor and a partner at LA Sports Group, where she represents professional football players in contract negotiations, career management, and off-field business opportunities. She is recognized as the first Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) woman to become an NFLPA-certified agent, combining her legal expertise with firsthand experience as a former collegiate student-athlete to provide comprehensive representation for her clients. In addition to her work as an NFL agent, Datan serves as Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs at the Los Angeles Media Fund (LAMF), where she oversees the company's legal and business operations across film, television, sports, and entertainment projects. She also played a key role in the production of LEGACY: The True Story of the LA Lakers, earning a Sports Emmy Award as an associate producer while assisting with business affairs and distribution negotiations. Her achievements in the entertainment industry led to her being named to Variety's Hollywood New Leaders list in 2021, recognizing emerging leaders under the age of 40. Before joining LAMF, Datan worked in-house for the National Football League (NFL) and later practiced entertainment law as an associate attorney at Donaldson, Callif, Perez LLP. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was a four-year varsity student-athlete and team captain, before receiving her Juris Doctor, with honors and a concentration in Entertainment and Media Law, from Southwestern Law School. She is also a member of the California State Bar. As a founding partner of LA Sports Group, Datan focuses on providing athletes with personalized representation that extends beyond contract negotiations to include legal counsel, branding, and long-term career development. Her unique combination of legal, entertainment, and sports industry experience enables her to guide clients through both the business and personal aspects of professional football, helping them maximize opportunities on and off the field.
