Biography
Craig Oster is an NHLPA-certified player agent and Senior Counsel at Newport Sports Management Inc., one of the world’s most influential hockey representation firms headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Oster played junior, university, and European professional hockey before transitioning into athlete representation. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the University of Manitoba and a law degree from the University of Western Ontario, and was called to the Ontario bar in 1996.
Oster has been a certified agent since 1995 and is a senior leader in Newport’s hockey practice, advising professional players on contract negotiations, team transitions, entry-level systems, arbitration, and international transfer agreements. He is regularly ranked among hockey’s most impactful agents by value and client count, with a portfolio of high-value NHL contracts worth over $1.3 billion, including elite players such as Rasmus Dahlin, Mark Stone, Matthew Tkachuk, and Erik Karlsson.
