Biography
Gerry Johannson is a Canadian NHL agent and President & CEO of The Sports Corporation, one of the established hockey representation agencies in North America. Based in Edmonton, Johannson has built a long career representing NHL players, draft prospects and professional hockey clients across Canada, the United States and Europe.
Before becoming an agent, Johannson was a hockey player himself. A defenseman from Swift Current, Saskatchewan, he was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1984 NHL Draft before later moving into player representation. That playing background gives his agency profile a practical understanding of development, draft pressure, contract timing, team fit and the challenges players face as they move from junior hockey into the professional game.
Through The Sports Corporation, Johannson’s representation profile has been connected to high-level NHL players, major contracts and long-term career management. His work reflects a veteran hockey-agent model built around draft advising, NHL contract negotiation, salary-cap understanding, player-family support, arbitration and free-agency strategy. Johannson’s position at TSC places him within a full-service hockey platform focused on helping players manage the full arc of their careers, from prospect development and entry-level contracts to veteran negotiations, international opportunities and post-playing transition.
