Biography

Michael "Mike" McCartney is an NFLPA-certified sports agent and senior football executive with VaynerSports, where he represents NFL players and advises clients on contract negotiations, career strategy, and long-term professional development. Widely regarded as one of the industry's most experienced football agents, he has negotiated more than $1 billion in NFL contracts during his career and represents many of the league's premier players. McCartney's football career began in coaching, working under his father, legendary Colorado head coach Bill McCartney, before transitioning into NFL personnel. He served as a pro scout for the Chicago Bears and later became Director of Pro Personnel for the Philadelphia Eagles, gaining extensive experience in player evaluation, roster construction, and salary cap management. His time on the team side of the league provided him with a comprehensive understanding of NFL front office operations, which has become a defining strength in his work as an agent. In 2002, McCartney became an NFLPA-certified contract advisor and entered player representation, building a reputation for negotiating complex contracts and guiding athletes through every stage of their professional careers. Over the following two decades, he established himself as one of football's leading agents, representing Pro Bowl and All-Pro talent while advising clients on free agency, extensions, endorsements, and long-term career planning. His client roster has included notable NFL players such as Kirk Cousins, Joe Thuney, Evan Engram, Aidan Hutchinson, and Zach Charbonnet.
